Love God is the first part of our mission statement at Fusion Christian Church. We believe that everything we do and believe starts there. So how exactly are we to love God? Listen in as Pastor Zac answers that very question.

We must go to the source.

In order to Love God we must draw near to him. He is the source of all things, especially love, because God is love. If we are going to learn how to love God properly, we need to know what love is. The only way to do this is to get to know him for who he is. Knowing God's character on a personal level gives us a personal understanding of love and enables us to reciprocate it. When we know God, not only do we experience his love for us, but we will be able to love him in return.

To love God is to delight in listening to Him and obeying Him.

Loving God is not an idle exercise. Loving God means we choose to listen to and obey him. If we say we love God but we don't listen to him, we make ourselves liars! If we say we love God but we don't obey him, we make ourselves hypocrites! Loving God includes following his commandments. We don't do this merely out of obligation, but in joyful adoration of our King and Savior.

Where there is love, there will be service and obedience.

This is the natural state of a believer. Because God is our Creator and King, it is natural for us to serve him. Because he is good, it is a service of love. If we truly love God, service and obedience will flow from that spring. Service will not be a burden, but a joy. The Lord is not a harsh taskmaster, but a loving Father who desires close relationship with his children. Loving him is the greatest endeavor of the Christian life.
