Setting Godly Goals

"Dream Big" is our series to kick off 2025 at Fusion Christian Church where we look to set godly goals. In this message, Pastor Zac will teach us why it is important to set godly goals and how to do so.

To fulfill big dreams, you must set godly goals.

If we want to live full and satisfying lives, we must set goals that are within God's will for us. He knows what is best, so we should strive to live according to what he has prescribed for us. This is not to say that anything we selfishly desire will be fulfilled if we have faith, because our next big point is...

Godly goals align our dreams with God's heart.

God does not merely give us the desires of our heart. What he does is much grander than that. Instead, God changes our hearts so that the things we desire match the good things he wants already. Submit to him to change your whole heart.

Godly goals are a sign of faith.

When we choose to set a goal that aligns with God's will, we demonstrate our belief that his way is better. The greater our godly goals, the greater the faith we demonstrate. This also leads to our next point:

Let the size of your God determine the size of your goal.

We serve a mighty and powerful God who can do all things. If our goal is godly, we should not shy away from it because it seems impossible. Instead, we should see that our God has done mighty works and can do them again.

Godly goals keep me growing and going.

One of the primary benefits of setting goals is that they help us grow. When we choose godly goals, it helps us grow in godliness. When we continue to grow and mature in our faith, as we should, it motivates us to keep moving forward. Ultimately, this will help mold us into the people God wants us to be.

How do you set godly goals for your life?

To help us set goals with God's will in mind, we should ask three questions:

  1. Do my goals honor God?
  2. Are my goals motivated by love?
  3. Will my goals deepen my dependency on God?

If we ask these three questions, they will help us to align our goals with God's.
